Volunteer Spotlight: Joe Naguit Dedicated to Recycling at Jones Park

by Brent Wilkins

Joe Naguit, a member of the Jesse Jones Park Volunteers, understands the importance of aluminum recycling. He has spent the past two years volunteering to sort materials deposited in the JJPV aluminum recycling receptacle and take them to a nearby recycling facility. It’s an important job, given that cans are one of the easiest materials to recycle, yet $700 million worth are discarded each year in the United States, the Aluminum Association reports.

Naguit also enjoys interacting with other volunteers at the JJPV monthly meetings and volunteer appreciation events. He said he became a volunteer because he wanted a fulfilling activity to do in his free time.

When Naguit is not volunteering at the park, he loves to travel, watch movies, and socialize with his friends.

If you are interested in volunteering with the JJPV aluminum recycling program or if you would like more information about the program, please contact volunteer coordinator Brent Wilkins at 281-446-8588 or bwilkins@hcp4.net.
