Join us for this free, fun-for-the-whole-family festival celebrating Shakespeare! The event features children's crafts, face painting, archery, games, food trucks, and live entertainment.
Enjoy one of Shakespeare’s earliest plays at 2 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. during family friendly presentations of Two Gentlemen of Verona, featuring plenty of romance, comedy, and action as best friends Valentine and Proteus leave their hometown of Verona for Milan. When they both fall in love with the same woman, Proteus betrays Valentine, leading to a twist ending in the forest. A band of outlaws and a disguised maiden intent on winning back her lost love add to the thrills.
Shakespeare-era attire is encouraged. Theater-style seating will be available under the covered pavilion at Burroughs Park on a first-come, first-served basis. Everyone is invited to bring their own refreshments or purchase items from food trucks during the festival.
Established in 2013, Precinct 4’s Shakespeare in the Shade presentations are part of Commissioner R. Jack Cagle’s educational and recreational commitment to Harris County residents. For more information, call Precinct 4’s Events Division at 713-274-4050.
