Nature enthusiasts of all ages are invited to explore Kickerillo-Mischer Preserve by boat or land during the preserve's grand opening celebration Saturday, April 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Views of the lake, Cypress Creek, and wildlife such as egrets make this 80-acre preserve one of Precinct 4's most scenic greenspaces!

Enjoy a fun-filled day of educational, family friendly activities in one of Harris County’s most beautiful parks! Visit recreated confederate and union camps to learn about Civil War era lifestyles. Also take guided tours to discover the history of the recently discovered Spring Creek Park Cemetery. The festival will feature Civil War battle re-enactments, cultural demonstrations, food trucks, archaeology digs, and more! This is a FREE event.

Choose from the Rainforest Pyramid, 3D Theater, 4D Theater, Colonel Paddlewheel, or Ridefilm Theater. Enjoy a delicious lunch on your own at one of the many concessions located there. Departing from Fairbanks Library, 9600 West Little York, Houston and Kingwood Library 4400 Bens View Lane, Kingwood. Join Volunteer Coordinator and Horticulturist Suzzanne Chapman for plant grooming, pruning, and weeding in the Perennial Garden. Seek out what is blooming and participate in plant identification to assist visitors. Learn about Texas native plants and endangered species in the Conservation Garden. Dress for the weather with tennis shoes or boots, gloves, and a hat. Sunscreen and water are recommended.

“The taxman cometh” and AARP is sending a little help your way. AARP Tax-aide volunteers provide free income tax assistance for low and middle-income people. Those requiring assistance should make an appointment with the Center staff. Each appointment lasts approximately 45 minutes. Participants must bring their 2015 tax returns and 2016 tax documents to the Center. Please remove documents from envelopes and organize them prior to the appointment.
