Mercer Botanic Gardens invites children ages 6 to 12 to explore plants through the ages during its Botanical Time Tunnel Summer Camp, held Tuesday, June 20 to Friday, June 23 for children ages 6 to 8 and Tuesday, June 27 to Friday, June 30 for children ages 9 to 12 from 9 a.m. to noon.

A suggested donation of $30 per child is requested to cover the cost of materials, which is due at the time of registration. Space is limited, so make a reservation today by calling 713-274-4166.

Kids are invited to a fun-filled, one-day camp. Using props and handson activities, day campers join together in “families” for a journey to Texas. Find out if you have what it takes to survive the hardships of earlier times and re-create a homestead of your own. Ages 7-12. Reservations required beginning Wed., June 28. Originating in China as a martial art, T’ai Chi means the “supreme ultimate fist.” T’ai Chi encourages awareness and natural relaxation while improving balance, coordination, flexibility and centering.

Volunteer instructor Stephanie Clark leads this exercise class that promotes physical awareness and mental discipline while building symmetry and coordination in the body. Most people who practice Pilates experience improved range of motion, flexibility, circulation, posture, and abdominal strength as well as decreases in back, neck, and joint pain. Comfortable exercise clothing and a thick yoga mat are required for maximum comfort.
