Homestead Heritage Day, Fishing, and Orienteering at Jones Park Bookmark

PROJECT WILD WORKSHOP Saturday, Feb. 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Learn about ecology and wildlife education during this course accredited by the Texas Environmental Education Advisory Committee (TEEAC) and The State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC). Participants receive a (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) TEKS curriculum and activity guide. Bring a lunch and wear comfortable shoes and clothing. Woodland Hills Drive Opens
Residents in Humble and Atascocita have a new option for accessing Beltway 8. Harris County Precinct 4 and Precinct 2 partnered to connect Woodland Hills Drive to Beltway 8. The roadway is expected to help relieve congestion along West Lake Houston Parkway and serve as a major thoroughfare from Beltway 8 to Atascocita. Construction began on the two-phased project in November of 2016. Roadwork included widening the existing two-lane roadway from Beltway 8 to near Ridge Creek Elementary School to four lanes

Field Trips at Kickerillo-Mischer Preserve
What's in the water at Kickerillo-Mischer Preserve? Recently, more than 120 Cypress Creek High School students found out during a trip to the preserve. Chemistry students tested the water quality at the preserve by measuring the amount of dissolved oxygen and turbidity in the water. The trip was meant to provide an extra layer of learning for students studying water quality as part of their chemistry curriculum. Kickerillo-Mischer Preserve Director Rose Belzung-Holmes said the preserve offers many field trip opportunities and resources for educators, from seasonal programming
