Precinct 4 Senior Adult Program’s April Calendar Bookmark

Precinct 4’s Senior Adult Program provides senior adult trips and activities for everyone 50 years of age and better. Register online at www.hcp4.net/sap/events or call 281-893-3726. Checks are payable to Fun4Seniors and should be mailed to 1731 Hugh Road, Houston, Texas 77067. Harris County Precinct 4 programs serve people of all ages, regardless of socioeconomic level, race, color, sex, religion, national origin, or physical ability.

Senior Adult Trips


Galveston Duck Tours. Tuesday, April 3 at 8:30 a.m. Explore Galveston Island on a unique vessel that can travel by land or water. Galveston Duck Tour participants will see beautiful 1900s mansions, the historic downtown strand, and the Seawall Boulevard overlooking the Gulf of Mexico followed by a cruise across the bayou. After the tour, enjoy the many shops and restaurants on the Strand. Lunch is available for purchase on your own at one of the many local eateries. A $15 prepaid, non-refundable fee covers the cost of this trip. Transportation is provided from Tomball Regional Medical Center, located at 605 Holderrieth Boulevard, Tomball. (Park in lot E off of Medical Complex Drive).

Blue Heron Goat Farm and shopping in Brenham. Thursday, April 5 at 10 a.m. Visit the Blue Heron Farm, a goat farm that prides itself on treating land, animals, and operators with dignity and respect. Lunch is available for purchase at the restaurant of your choice in Brenham. A $5 prepaid, non-refundable fee covers the cost of this trip. Transportation is provided from CHI St. Luke’s Health-The Vintage Hospital, located at 20171 Chasewood Park Drive, Houston.

Tall Ships of Galveston. Friday, April 6 at 8:30 a.m. View the Tall Ships in the Galveston Harbor before they race across the Gulf of Mexico in the Tall Ships Challenge. Tour 8 ships from all over the world, dating back hundreds of years. Lunch is available for purchase on your own at one of the many local eateries on the Strand. A $15 prepaid, non-refundable fee covers the cost of this trip. Transportation is provided from the following locations:

Texas Select Forged in Fire and Bellville Market Days.
Saturday, April 7 at 9 a.m. Cowboy Szymanski from the first season of Forged in Fire invites you to watch live demonstrations and meet notable bladesmiths from Forged in Fire. Afterwards, walk down a couple of blocks for the Bellville Market Day on the Square. Lunch is available for purchase on your own at one of the local eateries. This event requires extensive walking. Transportation is provided from CHI St. Luke’s Health-The Vintage Hospital, located at 20171 Chasewood Park Drive, Houston.

Tall Ships of Galveston. Sunday, April 8 at 8:30 a.m. Travel to Galveston Harbor, and see the ships before they race across the Gulf of Mexico for the Tall Ships Challenge. Tour eight ships from all over the world that date back hundreds of years. Lunch is available for purchase on your own at one of the many local eateries on the Strand. Tour De Fleur.
Wednesday, April 11 at 10 a.m. Enjoy the fresh air while touring some of Houston’s best gardens! Join Precinct 4 on a walk through the beautiful Japanese Gardens, McGovern Centennial Gardens, Houston Arboretum and Nature Center, and Mercer Botanic Gardens. Lunch is available for purchase at Fuddruckers. Transportation is provided from CHI St. Luke’s Health-The Vintage Hospital, located at 20171 Chasewood Park Drive, Houston.

Birding in High Island. Wednesday, April 11 at 8:30 a.m. The Boy Scout Woods Sanctuary and the Smith Oaks Sanctuary provide over 160 acres of live oak stands, boardwalks, wetlands and ponds to view over 100 bird species that migrate through the area every spring. Please plan to dress appropriately for the weather conditions and extensive walking. Lunch is available for purchase at Al –T’s Seafood and Steakhouse. A $8 prepaid, non-refundable fee covers the cost of this trip. Transportation is provided from Kingwood Community Center, located at 4102 Rustic Woods Drive, Kingwood.

Chappel Hill Bluebonnet Festival. Saturday, April 14 at 9 a.m. Join Precinct 4 this year for the 54th annual Bluebonnet Festival in Chappel Hill. The festival features an estimated 200 vendors selling unique home décor, clothing, jewelry, and much more. Also enjoy delicious country-style food, live entertainment, and music. Lunch will be available for purchase at the festival. Transportation is provided from the following locations:

Group Volunteer Outreach: Star of Hope. Tuesday, April 17 at 8:15 a.m. Take this opportunity to encourage and uplift others, give back to the community, and enjoy the fellowship of other volunteers while serving lunch at the Star of Hope Mission. Breakfast will be available for purchase at Cracker Barrel. Transportation is provided from CHI St. Luke’s Health-The Vintage Hospital, located at 20171 Chasewood Park Drive, Houston.

Johnson Space Center. Wednesday, April 18 at 9 a.m. Join Precinct 4 on a tour of Space Center Houston, a local educational program and museum of space artifacts and exhibits. Activities include a 90-minute tram tour exploring NASA’s Johnson Space Center; Historic Mission Control, where space programs were monitored until 1992; and Building 9, where astronauts are trained. This is an open-air tram tour, so please monitor the weather and plan accordingly. Following the tram tour, explore the Space Center on your own and enjoy one of the movies or other exhibits. Lunch is available for purchase on your own at the Zero-G Diner. An $18 prepaid, non-refundable fee covers the cost of this trip. Transportation is provided from Copperfield Church, located at 8350 Highway 6 North, Houston.

Galveston Fishing Trip. Tuesday, April 24 at 9 a.m. Join Precinct 4 for a day of deep sea fishing in the Gulf of Mexico. Your catch may include sharks, redfish, black drum, trout, whiting, catfish, and more. Fishing material is provided. All you need is a cooler for your catch, a fishing license, and yourself! Lunch will be available for purchase at the Olympia Grill. A $25 prepaid, non-refundable fee covers the cost of this trip. Transportation is provided from the following locations:

Painted Churches of Texas Tour. Tuesday, April 24 at 8 a.m. Around the turn of the 19th century, devout Catholics hailing from the Czech and German areas of Central Europe built twenty churches throughout the dusty plains and rolling hill country of Texas. Known as the Painted Churches of Texas, these backcountry places of worship are adorned with masterful paintings, shimmering stained glass, charming murals, and gold-encrusted altars. Lunch is available for purchase at the Oakridge Smoke House. A $13 prepaid, non-refundable fee covers the cost of this trip. Transportation is provided from Barbara Bush Library, located at 6817 Cypresswood Drive, Spring.

St. Mary’s Quilt Show in Plantersville.
Thursday, April 26 at 8:30 a.m. View magnificent quilts displayed in St. Mary’s beautiful historic painted catholic church. Stroll through the colorful gardens as live entertainment fills the air. Visit vendors in the church hall offering their wares for both quilters and non-quilters. All proceeds from the quilt show will be donated to the Society of St. Vincent DePaul. There is no admission fee, however donations are welcome. Lunch will be available for purchase at the Dresden Plate Café. Transportation is provided from CHI St. Luke’s Health-The Vintage Hospital, located at 20171 Chasewood Park Drive, Houston.

Duck in to Spring Luncheon. Tuesday, April 10 at 11:30 a.m. Visit Champion Forest Baptist Church Jersey Village, located at 16518 Jersey Drive in Jersey Village, for a catered meal and live, musical entertainment. Ben’s Chuck Wagon is catering chicken fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, rolls, dessert, and iced tea. $10 per person.

Home Run Baseball Fun Luncheon. Friday, April 20 at 11:30 a.m. Precinct 4’s Senior Adult Program invites all senior adults ages 50 and better to Copperfield Church, located at 8350 Highway 6 North in Houston, for a catered meal and live, musical entertainment. Ben’s Chuck Wagon is catering fried chicken, potato salad, pinto beans, homemade bread, dessert, and iced tea. $10 per person.

Fifth Annual Fishing Fest. Friday, April 27 at 10:30 a.m. at Burroughs Park. Anglers of all skill levels are invited to a day of outdoor fishing. A representative from The Texas Parks & Wildlife Department will be on site to share intriguing fishing facts and techniques throughout the day. Catfish on Wheels will serve a freshly prepared buffet of all-you-can-eat fried catfish, shrimp, French fries, hush puppies, coleslaw, and beans. Following lunch, enjoy fishing, exploring the park, or sharing stories of the “big one that got away.” Bait and tackle will be provided, but feel free to bring your own.
