Free Performances at Mangum-Howell Center

The community is invited to enjoy free theatrical performances presented by Cypress Creek F.A.C.E. at Precinct 4’s Mangum-Howell Center this winter. Read below for the performance schedule:

HGO's Opera to Go! presents "Hansel and Gretel"

The Brothers Grimm's famous fairy tale comes to operatic life Saturday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. Lost in the woods, hunger draws two siblings to a magical gingerbread house. The unpleasant tenant may have more than baking on her mind.

Ensemble Theater's "The Toys Take Over Christmas"

The fun continues Saturday, Dec. 9 at 11 a.m. with The Toys Take Over Christmas. In 1920s Harlem, a hard-hearted toymaker refuses to sell any of his enchanted toys who have become almost like real children. When the toymaker won’t free them to have fun with other children, the toys revolt.

Impande Ye Africa

Celebrating Black History Month, Impande Ye Africa will present “Sing Along Africa” Saturday, Feb. 10 at 11 a.m. The program will take the audience on an imaginary journey to Africa visiting historical places, identifying resources in different countries, and learning the languages and cultures of different tribes such as Zulu, Sotho, Xhosa, Tswana, and Swahili. This highly interactive show entertains and educates through songs, games, dancing, and music.

The performances that were scheduled to be held in the Centrum have been moved to Mangum-Howell Center due to flood damage from Hurricane Harvey. Mangum-Howell Center’s free intergenerational programs are part of Harris County Precinct 4 Commissioner R. Jack Cagle’s educational and recreational commitment to Harris County residents. Mangum-Howell Center is located in Doss Park at 2500 Frick Road, Houston 77038.
