Cool Off in Precinct 4's Shadiest Parks

With high humidity and temperatures in the upper 90s, summers in Houston can be brutal and sometimes even dangerous. Fortunately, Precinct 4 offers a few shady spots to keep cool.

Children can remain active with less danger of overheating on the covered playgrounds at Pundt, Doss, Collins, and Lindsay/Lyons parks. Bane Park’s splash pad is also a popular destination for children who enjoy zipping from the water to the playground.

Are trees and lush vegetation more your speed? Natural areas tend to absorb less heat and offer more shade. Find the perfect spot for reading, fishing, picnicking, or hiking under the dense pine canopies of Burroughs, Jones, Mercer, or Spring Creek parks. Find all these parks and more on Precinct 4's find-a-park page.
