The Mercer Society (TMS) now offers a complimentary senior-level membership to anyone who volunteers at least 200 hours at Mercer Botanic Gardens. “We are so grateful for the many volunteers who give their time throughout the year,” says Maryanne Esser, president of The Mercer Society. “This is just a way we could show our appreciation for their time, effort, and dedication to Mercer.”

Volunteers who qualified for the membership in 2016 include Kitt Burnsides, Jere Noerager, Anne Strommer, Charlyn Brown, Ceil Dow, Debbie Peterson, Rick Halaska, Mary Ellen Brown, Glenda Balione, Cindy Young, Bob Meyer, Merle Reynolds, Barbara Ashburn, Linda Smith, Larry Deal, Amy Conroy, Alba Sosa, Carol Scraper, Tammy Minnich, and Karen Hood.

The membership is worth $35 and can be used toward any higher level of membership. Benefits include discounts on Gift Shoppe purchases, programs, admission to more than 270 gardens nationwide, early shopping hours at March Mart, and more. “Our volunteers have been instrumental in the operation of the gardens and continually aid in the growth and development of The Mercer Society,” adds Esser. “It’s ultimately due to this generosity that TMS will continue to engage, inspire, and enlighten generations to follow.”
