What are the park hours?
Daily from 8 a.m. to dusk

The entrance gate closes 30 minutes before closing time, and the nature center closes at 4:30 p.m.

The park and nature center are closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day.

Can I reserve the picnic area?
The picnic tables are on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be reserved. There are 30 picnic tables, grills, rest rooms, and water fountains.

The barbecue pavilion is by reservation only; reservations can be made by contacting the nature center Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Are pets allowed?
Dogs on leashes are allowed on the Spring Creek Greenway only. Kennels are available for patrons with dogs wishing to use other
areas of the park.

Can I canoe on Spring Creek?
Point-to-point canoeing is allowed from Mercer Arboretum & Botanic Gardens to Jones Park or from Jones Park to the Highway 59 bridge.

Jones Park does not rent or have canoes available for use; people must provide their own canoes.

Canoeists must make reservations at both Mercer Arboretum and Jones Park, and should leave from Mercer no later than noon.

Jones Park also has scheduled canoe trips by reservation. Please check the program schedule for dates and times of upcoming trips.

Can I ride my bicycle on the trails?
Bicycling is allowed daily on the Jones-Bender, Judy Overby Bell, and Spring Creek Greenway trails. Other trails are open to bicyclists on Sunday mornings only.

Bikes are not allowed on the boardwalk or homestead trail at any time.
ROLLER SKATES, ROLLER BLADES, and SKATEBOARDS are not allowed at any time.

What if I find injured or orphaned wildlife?
If you find an injured or orphaned animal, please call:
Lonestar Wildlife Rescue (for wildlife found west of Harris County) at 713-824-3289, or Texas Wildlife Rehabilitation Coalition at 713-468-8972.

Please DO NOT bring injured or orphaned animals to Jones Park. If you find an injured or orphaned animal in the park, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TOUCH OR MOVE THE ANIMAL. Please alert the park staff immediately.

How do I make reservations for programs and tours?
Program reservations: Ask a park staff member or check the program schedule for sign-up dates for programs that require reservations.

Reservations for guided tours: Contact a park staff member during the nature center’s business hours (Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) for dates and times.

Where can I find the park rules?
Park rules are listed on the back of the park map, or can be obtained online or at the nature center.

Can I bring my recycling to the park?
Jones Park recycles paper, cardboard, fishing line and spools, and grocery bags only. Please drop these items off during park hours.
