About Us

Mission

Precinct 4’s community centers are intergenerational and serve people of all ages regardless of socioeconomic level, race, sex, religion, national origin, or physical ability.

Programs and classes are provided at no cost; however, participants must furnish their own supplies or purchase supplies at instructors’ costs. Donations are welcome, but never required.

Celebrate the seasons!
Celebrate the seasons!
There’s always a reason to celebrate at Precinct 4’s community centers. From seasonal celebrations and festivals to special recognition ceremonies for volunteers and veterans, we throw some great parties. Party goers enjoy seasonal music and entertainment, carnival games, hayrides, face painting, children’s crafts, prizes, refreshments, and much more.

Feel the energy! In addition to year-round classes for people of all ages, Precinct 4’s community centers offer fun summer programs. Each week, children take part in activities such as puppet and magic shows, children’s theater, ice cream parties, book clubs, arts and crafts, and nature presentations.

Dare to explore!
 Get in tune with one of several musical groups, or take center stage in adult and children’s theater groups. We not only host visiting theatrical groups, such as Express Children’s Theatre and Thunderbird Theater, but we offer field trips for individuals 50 years and better in and around Houston to arts venues like the symphony, theater, and local museums.

 Discover a talent you never knew you had by signing up for classes like quilting, sewing, woodworking, guitar, ceramics, singing, drama, drawing, and painting. Want to kick back? Pull up a chair and play bridge, pinochle, board games, or dart baseball.

For those looking to pick up a few new skills, financial workshops, seminars on home improvements, safety, gardening, ESL (English as a Second Language), GED (Graduate Equivalency Diploma), and conversational German, French, and Spanish language classes are offered.

Stay active!
Stay active! For those wanting to lose a few pounds or simply desiring to get in shape, we offer fitness classes, including karate, yoga, t’ai chi, aerobics, sit-and-be-fit, rhythm walking, line dancing, and square dancing.

To get a handle on health and wellness issues, attend one of many seminars on various topics such as weight loss, stroke prevention, and CPR/first aid; join a health and wellness support group, receive vision screening, or register for annual flu immunizations.
 

Lend a hand!

Lend a hand! With such an array of activities, Precinct 4’s community centers depend on volunteers to bring the fun to life. Volunteer opportunities are available for adults and children of all ages. (Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.)

As part of the community, we seek to help those in need through community outreach. Our fund-raising events provide school supplies for area children and toys for at-risk children during the holiday season. Volunteers help make these fund-raising events a success!
