The Adopt-A-County Mile program (AACM) is a litter abatement program that offers Harris County residents the opportunity to become active in reducing the tax dollars spent to clean county roadways. CAD is actively involved in the coordination and promotion of this program by helping to develop community interest and involvement.
How to Adopt:
To make a difference in your community, join the Adopt-A-County Mile program.
Participating groups agree to adopt a minimum one-mile stretch of county roadway to pick up litter on both sides of the selected or assigned roadway at least once every three months. A participating group may either request a particular site, or Precinct 4 will determine the location based on need. Precinct 4 provides safety tips, safety vests, clean-up supplies, free disposal, and street signs which recognize the efforts of each organization.
Up for Adoption:
The following are just a few roads that are most in need of adoption.
- Fairbanks North Houston Road from Rodney Ray Boulevard to West Little York Road
- TC Jester Boulevard from Ridge Hollow Drive to Spears Road
- Wolf Road from F.M. 2100 to May Community Center
