Matzke Park
Matzke Park, a 20-acre facility, includes a multiuse trail with water fountains, rest room facilities, four soccer fields, one cricket field, an all-inclusive barrier-free playground, two picnic pavilions, one gazebo, and a butterfly and sensory garden.

In 2007, the Norchester Garden Club partnered with the Association for Better Community Schools (ABCS), The Home Depot, and Westco Grounds Maintenance Co., Inc. to develop the butterfly and sensory garden. ABCS and Norchester Garden Club also provided a 40-seat pavilion with picnic tables and benches throughout the park.

Future amenities will include a multipurpose building that will have a public rest room, staff office, garage, and three equipment and supplies storage rooms for the Cy-Fair Youth Soccer, Triggers Cricket Club, and ABCS/Norchester Garden Club. (The clubs each donated $5,000 to provide the equipment and supplies storage rooms.) Additionally, a second parking lot is planned for construction on the west side of the park that will serve the playground, rest room, and picnic areas.

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Commissioner Jerry Eversole hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony April 3, 2009 to celebrate the completion of the all-inclusive playground at Matzke Park.

The barrier-free playground was made possible through a partnership between Harris County Precinct 4, the Association for Better Community Schools (ABCS), Be An Angel Fund, Inc., and the Norchester Garden Club.
