Box Turtles

Report box turtle sightings
Years of overharvest by the pet trade and individuals, as well as habitat loss, are dramatically decreasing the wild population of box turtles.

Please report box turtle sightings within Jones Park to the staff or in the nature center. Leave the animal where it is and do not pick it up.

Look for identifying marks on the shell, such as cracks or chips, and describe the area or location where you encountered the turtle.

The information you provide will be sent to the The Parks & Wildlife Department.
